Yavapai Basket Weaving
Yavapai basketry was primarily coiled bowls, trays and ollas with intricate geometric designs. Many forms also depict animals or people. Usual Yavapai basket materials include willow, cottonwood, devil's claw, yucca and joshua tree.
Baskets were used primarily for gathering food in the nearby mountains. This image is of Yavapai women basket makers courtesy of Sharlot Hall Museum.
